Truck drivers in today’s environment are a special breed. Successful management of drivers requires a special individual. The ability to communicate positively to a variety of personalities is critical. You must learn how to work effectively with a wide range of personalities by learning their capabilities, talents and preferences. WEL is looking for superior Driver Managers. Some of the responsibilities of the position are:


• Direct daily activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking trucks and trailers.
• Plan, organize and manage the work of drivers to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational and customer requirements.
• Serve as contact persons for all assigned drivers.
• Serve as advocate for all assigned drivers. Work to insure the wellness.
• Communicate schedule and policy changes to truck drivers.
• Promote safe work activities by attending company safety meetings and meeting with individual drivers.
• Issue advances and purchase orders to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved company guidelines.
• Coordinate repairs and maintenance to equipment and vehicles with appropriate staff.
• Monitor operations to ensure that assigned drivers comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
• Monitor driver's performance to insure on time service, PeopleNet integration and MPG guidelines

• Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
• Ability to organize and direct oneself and effectively supervise others.
• Must be knowledgeable on DOT regulations and hours of service/logging requirements
• Ability to show consideration for and maintain good relations with others.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
• To be able to re-prioritize tasks as needed and still complete all tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products. Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience with ICC (Transportation Management Software) is a plus
• Experience with Transportation is a plus
• Experience with PeopleNet is a plus
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
