Bellin Health is seeking a highly motivated Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery practice in Green Bay, WI. This progressive and growing program currently features 2 established cardiothoracic surgeons and 3 trained physician assistants which provide both inpatient and outpatient services to a patient population that ranges from the Fox Valley to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Our growing practice has an average annual volume of approximately 300 open heart procedures, 150 pulmonary/thoracic cases, 50 TAVR procedures, and approximately 100 combined vascular/esophageal cases.

This opportunity is for a 4th additional physician assistant and the daily job duties are as below:
• Provide a full scope of practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings including performing history and physicals, patient evaluations, interpreting labs and imaging studies, and provide both diagnosis and treatment plans in an educating format with an eventual high degree of autonomy.
• Provide first assisting services in the above mentioned surgical procedures under the supervision of the attending surgeon. In addition, endoscopic vein harvesting will be required for coronary artery bypass surgery, and training will be provided.
• On call responsibility will be a rotating 1:4 schedule and is not in house. Daily tasks are also on a rotating schedule to provide equal opportunities and ensure job satisfaction.
• Provide post-operative and perioperative management to both cardiac and ICU patients as part of daily rounds. Tasks will include daily assessments and progress notes, consults, admissions, discharges, and removal of items such as chest tubes, pacing wires, and balloon pumps. There will be an opportunity to learn how perform chest tube insertions, thoracentesis, wound vac changes, and placement of arterial lines.
• Provide support for office staff in dealing with patient triage. In addition you may be asked to provide education for hospital nursing staff on topics regarding post-operative care.

• Previous OR experience is preferred.

Job Requirements
It is required that the eligible candidate has graduated from an accredited physician assistant program, is NCCPA certified, and is eligible for State of Wisconsin Physician Assistant License. A new graduate would be strongly considered and a clinical in a cardiac related field would be productive.
